'Sometimes we sit for hours staring at a sea shell'
Couple meticulously recreates Mills and Boon coversOverly-romantic pictures of couples gazing at a sunset or leaning into a kiss have often provoked ridicule and laughter.
But Alex Holder and her boyfriend Ross Neil's photos will have you giggling for all the right reasons.
The London-based couple have hilariously recreated slushy covers from Mill and Boon books - complete with sea shells and horses.
Tongue in cheek: Alex Holder and Ross Neil have meticulously recreated Mills and Boon coversThe romance novels are as famous for covers featuring lovers in unlikely poses as they are for their repeated plots and guaranteed happy endings.
So Alex and her boyfriend Ross decided to mirror some of their favourites from the series including: Dark Obsession and A First Time for Everything.
Their photographs are displayed alongside the, rather tattered, original covers that inspired them.
The images are accompanied by a tongue-in-cheek comment: 'Sometimes we sit for hours staring at a sea shell. Other times he'll hold me by the neck in front of the pyramids.
'But there's nothing we like more than nearly kissing each other near some horses'.
Romantic gaze: Alex and Ross' backdrops and costumes are very accurateAlex also addresses the misogynistic reputation of the novels, saying, with more than a hint of irony: 'I always try to look hot in front of him so he doesn't leave me.'
The amount of effort that goes into the pictures is clear to see. Alex has dyed her hair brown for one of the covers.
In another she wears a green jumpsuit that looks so much like the original it might have been used for that cover.
Passionate clinch: The couple highlight the comedic elements of covers - like horses grazingin the backgroundExplaining the Mills & Boon tribute, Alex said: 'It was my idea, I thought it would be funny. I painted the backdrops, and sourced the clothes myself.'
They were shot in my studio at my flat in London with the help of my creative partner Oli Kellett and a lot of fake tan.'

I met up with friends and had quinoa and tofu congee at the Marrickville Organic Food & Farmers Market. I've never tried this before, it was ok maybe a little bland. The markets were hectic for an overcast morning. Now we are off to see Justin Townes Earle, yee hah.
